Greening our communities requires a lot of work and we recognize the tremendous demand for qualified local workers. By bringing together municipalities, private industry, and academic institutions, SEI is able to deliver green education programs and facilitate hands-on occupational training for high school and university students as well as area un- and under-employed workers. Not only do we equip them with the skills they need to land jobs in the growing green sector, we offer them an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society with their work.
SEI has designed two high school certificates, one in energy efficiency and renewable energy, and one in green building, that help students understand climate change issues as well as provide an entry point for careers in green energy and green building.
Our institutions of higher education represent significant intellectual and social capital for nearby communities, while at the same time, faculty are seeking opportunities to provide students with relevant and place-based sustainability challenges to address. Through the CUSP approach, SEI staff seeks to bring campuses and municipal partners together.
