icongreenworkforceGreening our communities requires a lot of work and we recognize the tremendous demand for qualified local workers. By bringing together municipalities, private industry, and academic institutions, SEI is able to deliver green education programs and facilitate hands-on occupational training for high school and university students as well as area un- and under-employed workers. Not only do we equip them with the skills they need to land jobs in the growing green sector, we offer them an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society with their work.

Community-University Sustainability Partnership (CUSP)

Our institutions of higher education represent significant intellectual and social capital for nearby communities, while at the same time, faculty are seeking opportunities to provide students with relevant and place-based sustainability challenges to address.  Through the CUSP approach, SEI staff seeks to bring campuses and municipal partners together.

Energize Colleges

Energize Colleges supports a network of 12 California colleges and universities as they prepare students to be leaders in the new energy economy. The goal of this program is to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and experience to effectively evaluate energy career options and transition into the green workforce.
